Welcome to Atlanta where the players play....wait the games in NOLA -

Not to sound like I'm complaining, but prime time loves the Saints almost as much as I do. They insist upon giving Saints the late Sunday or Monday Night games so that the entire nation can watch whoever they happen to be playing. Today's the day we play our biggest rival (not as Tampa Bay fans would have you believe apparently) and we play them at home. I want this game to be reminiscent of our first game back home after Katrina. It was against Atlanta, and the blocked punt for a touchdown was probably one of the most inspiring moments in NFL history. Even the announcers who's job it is to talk couldn't and didn't want to say a thing. I hope the Saints take that same feeling with them onto the field today so we can kick Atlanta's ass.

The Falcons are 9-5 this season, and we need to beat them in order to win the division. We've already clinched a playoff spot so that's pretty sweet, but frankly, my Division Champions screen saver is from 2009 and I'd like to update it. I've talked a lot of shit about Atlanta in previous posts so its almost to the point where anything I say at this point is redundant. On Atlanta's NFL team page, there's an article titled, "Slowing Saints is the Key, Not Stopping Them". You can't even muster enough confidence to say you need to stop us? Its like, "well, lets not get unrealistic here..." And that was their coach that said that! Sure, they've already gotten a playoff spot too so this game is really for pride and for higher seeding for the Saints in our playoff run. Matty "the shittiest beer ever" Ice may or may not to give it his all this game. Who knows if Turner and White will decide to show up either. I do hope that even though the Falcons are terrible people and I question their abilities on a daily basis, that no one gets hurt this late in the season and screws up the playoffs.

Now on to my Saints....I like that Ivory is back in the game. He's been playing amazingly well, and I hope he gets a touchdown tonight. Ingrahm has been pretty impressive as well. And can we talk about Saint Jimmy Graham??? He gave two tickets to these two kids who made a song about going to a Saints game. This just adds to the reason why I love the Saints, because they do stuff like this. Aside from his ability to play through back spasms and get us yards and TD's, he has a hilarious selection in t-shirts and he appreciates the fans. Saint Drew will be the King of New Orleans for the foreseeable future. He is set to break Marino's record this game, and I hope that I get to see that tonight. I've seen significant progress in Saint Brees and by that I mean he's been holding on to the ball and not been making rushed passes that end up in the hands of the other team. Hopefully this lovely trend continues. My sister forwarded me an article that deserves to be read, I think the author might love Brees just as much as I do.... http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/45768359/ns/sports-nfl/ .

All I can say to the author is remember, Saint Brees is a married man.

Saint's defense did an excellent job against Minnesota last week, and I'd like to ask that they keep it going this week. No doubt Gregg Williams has been in his lair of extraordinary defensive genius moves creating god knows what coverage for Matty "you make me want to throw up" Ice and his offense. I hope Jenkins, Harper, and Greer have an appetite for poultry to be taken out on these dirty birds.

My dear Saints, I couldn't be prouder to be a Saints fan both because of your on the field and off the field activities. I have yet to meet a Saints fan that doesn't welcome other people on the bandwagon. Granted in New Orleans, I think its called a parade float instead of a bandwagon, and who the hell doesn't want to be on one of those?!? The love affair that exists between the city and the team is one that has the ability to make any Saints fan just smile thinking about the team. I sometimes feel bad for fans of other teams who don't have this, because its so amazing. Its no secret how much I love the Saints, and I believe it probably sticks out this far north because Saints fans are fewer and farther in between up here. But go to the city, and see that everyone loves the Saints as much as I do, if not more. I love my city, I love my team, and bless you boys. GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!! (God I hate Atlanta - sorry I just needed to say that.)

No one can say 'Minnesota' without imagining it said with an accent

Its the exact same phenomena that happens when you hum the first part of "Final Countdown", anyone in ear shot, including yourself, has to - HAS TO either silently or audibly hum the second part. Its a documented fact. Look it up on Wikipedia, I'm sure they have an article about it;)

The Saints and the Vikings have had a relatively interesting near past. The Vikings have been a team that's been slowly imploding for the past 2 or 3 seasons. When they got Favre...that was the nail in their coffin. And his too if you remember the 2009 NFC Championship game (Sorry 'bout the ankle buddy but you were asking for it). Im sure the Vikings wish they would have known that at the time instead of sending some guys down there to "persuade" Brett to come back and ruin yet another season of theirs.

It's my understanding that McNabb was released awhile ago. As to why he was signed in the first place I don't know. If you're a veteran QB and can't pull it together for the Redskins, its just not going to happen for you anywhere else. And you would THINK that Minnesota would have learned their lesson from signing the aged Favre....nope. Wrong. They went ahead and were like, "Yes. This is completely logical and fiscally appropriate. Let's do this." So I had to go looking for their new QB.....Ok first of all the starter is a dude who's last name is Ponder. There are so many jokes that I can't even make one because that would be the entire post. Ponder-ing about jokes aside (pun TOTALLY intended), their third stringer is a guy who's first name is Sage. Yup. Sage. Like an herb. Or smart guy. I kiiiiind of want to start a, "Put The Sage In!" movement just because it sounds hilarious, and you know there are going to be people who are going to get confused about whether or not its a guy or spice.

I do have a concern about this team though, and it comes in the form of Adrian Peterson. He's in this week, and if Ponder spent any time Ponder-ing (intended that one too) about the Saints defense, he'll know that getting the ball to Peterson will be their most likely chance of scoring. He's been rather injury prone this year so I guess we'll see if our guys can get to him.

My Saints....my dear Saints. Thanks for the playoff spot, that's nice of you (And the Bears - Erika, looking in your direction, ALMOST makes up for that BS game in 2006 but not really). Harper and Jenkins, I'd like to request that you take out the first two QB's so my, "Put The Sage in!" movement can take off. That'd be sort of awesome. Ellis, I haven't seen too many most excellent plays from you and frankly, I'd like that to change. I'm not one to spread rumors, but Im fairly certain that I heard Adrian Peterson talk some shit about your kids. Something about....being Atlanta fans? Im happy to see Vilma in after his knee injury, Vilma's my fave (on defense). Drew, I like how you're starting to make the decision to hold on to the ball instead of getting a grounding penalty or worse, an interception. Not only has that helped my fantasy team, but its been nice to see as a fan. It was a damn shame last week that little guy couldnt have his return count as a touchdown. Let's let him have one this game. He's so little I just want to pick him up and put him in my pocket. Jimmy - hope the back is alright, muscle spasms are the worst so...hope that's better and you can go dunk footballs over the goal posts ater you score a TD (or four, just sayin').

As our regular season draws to a close, I'd like to thank you guys or another great season. I look forward to the playoffs and the rest of the season. Bless you boys and GEAUX Saints!!

A Titan-ic Game...

There are four things I can remember about the Tennessee Titans. First of which being my friend Max is a fan of them. Second is that they used to be the Houston Oilers, which is a terrible name for a team and it was a good change. Third, the head coach is my friend's uncle. Fourth, these jerks beat us in a pre-season game. Other than that, I have no idea who these guys are. Whenever I don't know much about a team that I'm going to talk trash about, I have to google search them. I've had good results with these searches, as evidenced by the article titled, "A LeStar is born" that included the whole name debacle that I laughed about for about a week. According to their depth charts, their go-to QB is Matt Hasselbeck. I hate this guy. How low do you have to feel about yourself if you get the boot from Seattle? That's like being in remedial reading class and being given a pictures-only book because you juuuust can't get the hang of it and the teacher doesn't even want to bother trying. Now yes, last year Seattle did beat the Saints in the play-offs, but it sure wasn't because of the efforts of one Matt Hasselbunny. The Saints lost that game more than the Seahawks won it. No sense in getting stuck in the past though.

Giving a further review to their depth chart, they've got an acceptable team. I feel like this might be another throwing game for Breesus, lets hope he keeps it to the boys in black instead of throwing a pick 6-er to the boys in blue. I'm not seeing anything fantastical about their team, unless there's some guy on there that I'm missing....They're 7-5 and looking at their schedule, they won a game against Atlanta with their QB having the leading amount of rushing yards at the amazing total of 17. I mean seriously? You left the run game to the QB? And they won a game against Buffalo with Hasselbizz only throwing for 140 yards. I know its Buffalo but really? 140? Brees has thrown for more yards in his sleep. I'VE thrown for more yards. So looking at their W's they don't seem all that impressive except for the one against Baltimore. And that was week 2 so the teams were all still getting in the groove of things after the lockout. Hasselballs is highly inconsistent looking at his stats so it'll be interesting to see who shows up to the game.

The Saints on the other hand....I wish Drew would somehow psych himself out to think that every play they were under pressure for a game winning play. Because when he's lax, they make mistakes and drop balls or have interceptions. When its do or die time, he's unstoppable. Pair that with ol' Sprole-skies and Jimmy Graham and thats 14 points right there. Easily. Lets not have a repeat of the pre-season game against these guys. Pre-season games generally don't mean much, so lets show them in the real season how well we can kick their ass. Lets have a few TDs by colston, maybe a few by Spoliolio too. Bless you boys and GEAUX SAINTS!!!

You're A Lion SOB....

So the game was orignially supposed to be at 1 (or noon central), but because the Saints are so awesome and the Detroit Lions continue to confuse people, they moved the game to prime time. I'm perfectly fine with this development. As part of the diaspora Saints fans, it means I don't have to watch it on my computer and have a heart attack when the feed gets messed up.

Now this Suh guy....I haven't been able to figure out whether or not he is playing, he's appealing the decision by the NFL to suspend him for two games for STOMPING ON SOMEONES RIB CAGE after mind you, after he smashed that guys head into the ground a few times. So I don't know if that gives him the ability to play or what the deal is. Either way, I hope this guy doesn't play. Not because I dont think our lines can handle him, but because he's a bad example of a pro football player and what we should expect. Call it a job, a career, a calling, a profession or whatever. But at the end of the day it's an f-ing GAME and you should never actively try and hurt someone like that. That shit is not cool. And call it karma all you want about him getting into a car accident, but even as a Saints fan, I don't wish the man harm and I'm glad he's okay. But all that aside, that guy's a dick. And I would have no problem if Harper hit him so hard that HE bounced off the ground.
Stafford is one of the most dedicated QB's I've seen in the league in a long time (Aside from Breesus). Problem is though that his finger is injured and the Saints can smell weakness like a shark smells a drop of blood in water during Shark Week. So he might want to be careful. I don't know if he's aware of Gregg Williams, but Gregg's a sick mofo who can be diabolical when it comes to spotting weakess and exploiting it. Peyton's still on crutches, and I think he brings about four sets because I'm fairly certain he throws them at the line refs instead of challenge flags now. I mean, you can't get mad at a dude on crutches right? Especially those bionic looking crutches that he has. Our offensive line is going to have their work cut out for them as the Lion SOB's defense is rather impressive.

Brees, no interceptions today PLEASE. Let's see some more superman action like we saw last week. I need all of my recievers to get creative with it today and go out there and work these Lions like you're Romans in the Coliseum. Harper, these guys are tough so you can just go all out on them if you want. I know they're saying its a short week for the Saints...but to be honest, we really only played the Giants for the first two quarters and then were just kind of playing around after that, so its not THAT short of a week. And they're both at home, so theres no travel time that we have to account for. Graham, I would like to see several TD's followed by several dunking of the footballs over the goal post. It reminds us all that you're a basketball player too and we could use you on the Hornets should the need arise. Sprolio - go run your little heart out. I love the camera shots that highlight how short you are compared to an actual NFL football player. It reminds me of how I feel EVERYDAY.

The interesting thing about this game that should be noted is that these are both two cities that have relied on their football teams to get them through hard times. Now the Saints have done a bit better of a job than the Lions have over the past few years, but the Lions had a good run earlier this year. I hope that the Lions and the city of Detroit can find the same thing that the Saints and New Orleans have in each other and build from there. As a New Orleanian by heart, I can't not want that for them (sorry to all my Enligh major friends for the double negative).

Bless you boys and Geaux Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!
